On December 6th, the Rensselaer Society of Engineers (RSEi) hosted its annual Winter Social, welcoming RPI professors, staff, and students to the house for an evening centered on connection, reflection, and community. The event provided an opportunity to step away from the structure of classrooms and offices and instead engage in meaningful conversation in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Guests were treated to a seasonal spread that included charcuterie boards, roasted turkey, potato skins, and a variety of desserts. The shared meal helped set a warm and inviting tone for the evening, encouraging guests to gather around tables, reconnect with colleagues, and engage with students in informal discussion. Conversations throughout the night reflected the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and community in shaping the RPI experience.

A central highlight of the Winter Social was the recognition of RSEi’s graduating seniors. During the event, graduating members were formally presented with Certificates of Induction as RSE Alumni, marking their transition from active members of the Society to lifelong participants in its alumni network. Each senior also received a framed lithograph of the RSE House, symbolizing both their time within the Society and their lasting connection to RSEi. The presentation was made possible through the continued support of local advisor Mark Anderson ’79 and alumnus Jeff Gorss ’66, whose presence underscored the strength of RSEi’s alumni involvement and the importance of maintaining strong ties across generations. Graduating seniors recognized during the ceremony included Farris Nefissi, Ayaan Ahmad, Liam Beresford, Alex Heinle, Paul Lea, and Lucas Masotti. Their induction served as a meaningful moment of reflection on their contributions to the Society and the legacy they leave behind.

RSEi extends its sincere thanks to the professors, staff, and alumni who joined the Winter Social and helped make the evening a success. Events like this highlight the values that define RSEi: leadership, service, professionalism, and a commitment to fostering a close-knit community that supports members during their time at RPI and long after graduation.
